Face & Neck Lift in Brussels — Deep Plane technique

Specialties > Face and Neck

A natural result, not a frozen face

Unlike a traditional facelift that simply tightens the skin, the Deep Plane technique repositions the deep tissues of the face. The result: a redefined jawline, a clean neckline and a preserved expression. We don’t change your face — we restore its freshness. This commitment to a natural result has guided every procedure by Dr Cantella for 20 years.

Deep Plane or SMAS facelift: what’s the difference?

The SMAS facelift works on the superficial muscular layer; the Deep Plane technique releases and repositions the tissues at a deeper plane, giving a more natural and longer-lasting result, especially on the lower face and neck. Dr Cantella selects the technique best suited to your anatomy during the consultation.

The lifting is a procedure that allows repositioning the tissues of the face after a sagging due to the effects of age, muscle tension, sun exposure, etc... Performed on both women and men, the lifting is carried out from the age of forty-five, when the signs of aging appear.

Cervico-facial SMAS, Deep plane Facelift, or mini-lift, temporal lifting associated with lipostructure , peeling or laser C02 fractionned.. To achieve the best result, your surgeon will use different techniques, depending on the quality of your skin, the extent of sagging, and the amount of skin and fat to be removed. Thus, the lifting can be partial or more significant, and it may sometimes involve a procedure on the muscles, fat, eyelids, or forehead.

Pre-operative examinations aimed at highlighting any contraindications are systematically performed. The intervention lasts two to three hours and is carried out under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia combined with the administration of sedatives depending on the extent of the procedures to be performed. It is performed on an outpatient basis.

Post-operative follow-up:

You will be able to get up from the first day and you will no longer have dressings from the next day. A painless facial edema appears and 8 to 12 days will be necessary to be presentable. You will be able to resume normal activity about two weeks after your intervention.

The results:

A lifting brings a great freshness to the face. The results are clear and their duration is on average ten years.

Dr. Cantella is committed to preserving the natural appearance of the face. His goal is not to change his patients, but to help them rediscover the image they once loved seeing in the mirror.
Men are increasingly coming to us with this request.

10 excerpt(s) from our FAQ on this topic…

What is the ideal age for a facelift?

There is no “ideal” age, but facelift is often considered between 45 and 65 years, when signs of skin laxity become pronounced and non-invasive treatments are no longer sufficient.

What is the difference between a mini-lift and a cervico-facial lift?

The mini-lift primarily addresses the early sagging in the lower face, while the cervico-facial lift works deeper on the oval of the face, jowls, and neck.

How long do the effects of a facelift last?

The results of a facelift can last 8 to 12 years, depending on skin quality, lifestyle, and post-operative care (skincare, lifestyle).

Can multiple facial procedures be combined?

Yes, it is common to combine several procedures (lifting + eyelids, lifting + lipofilling, etc.) for a comprehensive and cohesive rejuvenation.

Does a Deep Plane facelift freeze the face?

No. By working on the deep planes of the face rather than merely tightening the skin, the Deep Plane technique avoids a "pulled" look and preserves your natural expression. The goal is a rested face, not a transformed one.

How long does the swelling take to go down after a facelift?

The swelling, which is painless, is most noticeable in the first days and then gradually subsides. Allow 8 to 12 days to look presentable; the final result becomes apparent after a few weeks, once the swelling has fully settled.

Does a facelift leave visible scars?

The incisions are hidden around the ear and within the hairline, where they become very discreet over time. A scar is permanent, but it is placed to be as inconspicuous as possible.

Is a facelift painful?

The procedure is not known to be painful. A feeling of tightness and some bruising are normal in the first days and are managed with simple pain relief.

When can I return to work after a facelift?

Most patients resume normal activity about two weeks after the procedure, once the bruising has faded. This time frame varies with the extent of the procedure and your occupation.

How much does a facelift cost in Brussels?

The price depends on the procedure performed and is given to you in a personalised quote during the consultation.
