Breast Augmentation
BREAST SURGERY: INCREASING THE VOLUME OF THE BREASTS
Breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgery technique that allows for an increase in breast volume. To achieve this, breast implants are generally used.
Breast implants are soft envelopes filled with silicone gel. Placed under the gland or muscle, they allow for an increase in breast volume to achieve a fuller, more beautiful chest. There are breast implants of different shapes and sizes.
Round breast implants provide more volume to the upper part of the breast. They are suitable for women who already have somewhat formed breasts.
Anatomical breast implants have a teardrop shape and gently conform to the body. They provide a more natural appearance by avoiding the break between the top of the breast and the chest, particularly in very thin women.
During the consultation, you will choose with your cosmetic surgeon breast implants that harmonize with your silhouette and body type.
There are four options for placing breast implants:
The peri-areolar approach (via a small incision of 3 to 4 cm well hidden around the areola that surrounds the nipple).
The trans-areolar approach (through the areola).
The submammary approach (in the crease under the breast).
The axillary approach (in the armpit).
Breast implants are most often inserted behind the muscle (retro-muscular insertion).
The amount of glandular tissue and the elasticity of the skin must be sufficient to adequately cover the implant on each side so that its contours are as unnoticeable as possible.
The procedure is generally performed under general anesthesia.
Breast implants do not prevent breastfeeding as the mammary glands and their ducts are preserved. However, a pregnancy can only be considered starting from the 6th month after the operation.
