Breast Reduction & Mastopexy
BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY
Some patients may suffer from breast hypertrophy, meaning that their breast volume is too large. This condition causes physical discomfort (pain in the back, shoulders, and neck) and functional issues (clothing difficulties, sports practice). It is almost always associated with breast ptosis (sagging). It may also be accompanied by asymmetry in breast volume.
This procedure allows for a reduction in breast volume while correcting its shape (lifting the breasts and possibly correcting asymmetry). The excess breast tissue is removed from the lower pole of the breast, and the skin envelope of the breast is reduced to reshape the final form of the breast. To do this, the aesthetic surgeon makes an incision around the areola associated with a vertical scar and a horizontal scar hidden in the fold under the breast (inverted T scar).
This procedure is usually not very painful. The drains placed are generally removed after 24 hours, at the same time as the first dressing. Wearing a bra is then advised day and night for a month. The stitches are removed after two to three weeks, and superficial bruises (bruises) usually disappear after two or three weeks. Temporary numbness of the nipples may sometimes take a few months to resolve.
The main risk lies in the scars, which can evolve unpredictably. They will be closely monitored. If necessary, they can be softened with permanent makeup. A slight asymmetry, generally present before the procedure, may also persist after the operation.
Breast reduction surgery can be performed as soon as puberty is complete, once breast development is finished. Breastfeeding remains possible after the procedure. The operated breast remains natural, sensitive to hormonal changes and weight variations.
MASTOPEXY: CORRECTION OF PTOSIS
Breast sagging (or mammary ptosis) generally occurs after significant weight loss or following a pregnancy. Ptosis can be isolated or associated with hypertrophy or hypoplasia of the breast, which can be corrected at the same time. The purpose of ptosis correction surgery is to lift the areola and nipple and reshape the gland to achieve a harmonious volume and shape.
To do this, the aesthetic surgeon makes an incision around the areola and a vertical incision. Sometimes it is necessary to resort to an inverted T incision in the fold under the breast.

Ptosis correction can be performed from the age of 17 in significant cases, although it is generally advised to wait until after pregnancies before considering it. Breastfeeding remains possible after the procedure. The operated breast remains natural, sensitive to hormonal changes and weight variations.
